Sabi Home Limited Residential Warranty for Outdoor Teak Furniture

This Residential Limited Warranty is offered by Sabi Home Limited (“Sabi Home”, “we”, “our” or “us”) and applies to outdoor teak furniture purchased from Sabi Home for private residential use only. It does not apply to furniture used in commercial settings (such as hospitality, rental or contract use) or to resale or hire arrangements. This document sets out the rights you have under our warranty and explains how those rights operate alongside applicable UK consumer protection law and U.S. consumer warranty law. It is in addition to any statutory rights you may have and does not affect those rights.

1 Scope of Coverage

1.1 Products Covered

This warranty applies to outdoor teak furniture manufactured or supplied by Sabi Home and purchased from Sabi Home or our authorised resellers. Unless otherwise stated, it covers:

  • Teak/furniture frames – including our outdoor teak chaises, dining tables, dining benches, dining chairs, armchairs, sofas and storage units. This also covers any teak frames used in modular seating collections.
  • Cushion, upholstery and cover workmanship – including cushions, seat pads and upholstered components supplied by Sabi Home for sofas, dining benches and armchairs. This workmanship warranty applies whether we use Sabi Home-supplied fabrics or customer-supplied fabrics; however, the fabric itself is not covered.
  • Fabrics and slings supplied by Sabi Home as part of a furniture set. Fabrics purchased separately from Sabi Home are covered only under the original fabric manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Accessory items (such as umbrellas, covers, protective glides, hardware and other components) where indicated below.

1.2 Who Is Covered

This warranty is provided to the original purchaser of the product and is not transferable. Proof of purchase (for example, a copy of the invoice or sales receipt) is required to make a claim. Only the person who bought the item may make a claim unless the warranty document expressly grants third-party rights. Under UK law, only the buyer has a statutory right to bring a claim unless the warranty document extends those rights.

2 Warranty Periods

Component Warranty period Coverage
Furniture frames (teak) 5 years from the date of invoice We warrant that teak frames will be free from defects in materials and workmanship during the warranty period. Natural characteristics of teak (such as colour changes, greying, small cracks in the end grain and weathering) are not defects and are not covered by this warranty.
Cushion, upholstery and cover workmanship (including COM) 3 years from the date of invoice We warrant the workmanship (stitching, seams and construction) of cushions, upholstery and covers used on sofas, dining benches and armchairs, including where Sabi Home uses customer-supplied fabrics (COM). This warranty covers sewing defects and assembly issues but does not provide any warranty on the performance of customer-supplied fabrics themselves. Foam cores and filling materials will compress over time and are considered normal wear and tear.
Fabrics and slings As specified by the fabric manufacturer Fabrics and sling materials are covered only by the original manufacturer’s warranty. We will assist you in contacting the fabric supplier if you need to make a claim.
Customer-supplied fabrics (COM) No Sabi Home warranty Fabrics provided by the customer (also called Customer’s Own Material or COM) are not warranted by Sabi Home. Sabi Home does not warrant the color fastness, durability, shrinkage, pilling, stain resistance or other performance characteristics of customer-supplied fabrics. For performance information and warranty details on your fabric, contact the original fabric supplier.
Accessory items (umbrellas, covers, hardware, protective glides, etc.) As specified by the accessory manufacturer Umbrellas and other accessories supplied by Sabi Home are warranted according to the terms offered by their respective manufacturers.

If different warranty periods apply to different parts of the product (for example, cushions versus frames), the respective period will apply to each component.

UK Statutory Rights

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, all goods sold to UK consumers must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. You can request a repair, replacement or refund if a product is defective within certain time limits. You have up to six years (five years in Scotland) to bring a claim for faulty goods. This Sabi Home warranty operates in addition to those rights and does not limit or exclude them.

U.S. State-Law Rights

Under U.S. law, implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose may apply. Where permitted by law, we limit the duration of all implied warranties to the term of this express limited warranty. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages; therefore these limitations may not apply to you. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights which vary from state to state.

3 What Is Covered

During the applicable warranty period, Sabi Home warrants that the covered product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship. If a defect arises and a valid claim is submitted within the warranty period, Sabi Home will, at its option:

  1. Repair the defective product (using new or refurbished parts), or
  2. Replace the defective product with an identical or reasonably equivalent model (if the original is no longer available), or
  3. Refund the purchase price you paid for the defective product (excluding delivery charges).

The remedy chosen by Sabi Home will be the sole and exclusive remedy available to you for any defect covered by this warranty.

4 What Is Not Covered

This warranty applies only to products used in normal residential conditions. It does not cover damage, defects or failure resulting from any of the following:

  • Normal wear and tear or weathering – including fading, greying, checks or splits in teak, changes in wood colour, surface stains, mould/mildew growth, or natural patina associated with outdoor exposure. Changes in the colour and appearance of teak are expected as the wood ages and weathers.
  • Failure to maintain or care for the product – such as not following the care and maintenance instructions supplied with your furniture, including recommended cleaning, oiling or protective treatments.
  • Improper storage or assembly – including damage due to storage in environments with extreme humidity, temperature fluctuations or inadequate ventilation; or incorrect assembly/installation not performed in accordance with Sabi Home instructions.
  • Misuse or abuse – including heavy commercial use, over-loading, standing on furniture, dragging furniture, or using the product for purposes other than intended.
  • Accidental damage – such as impact damage, dropping, fire, flood or other acts of God.
  • Modifications, alterations or unauthorised repairs – including using non-approved parts or components.
  • Third-party products and customer-supplied materials – such as cushions, fabrics, umbrellas or other accessories not supplied by Sabi Home, and any customer-supplied fabrics used for cushions or upholstery. These items are covered only under their respective manufacturers’ warranties or by the supplier of the fabric. Sabi Home makes no warranty, express or implied, regarding the performance of customer-supplied materials.

The following components are considered consumables or subject to wear and tear and are not covered by the frame warranty: protective glides/feet, fabric ties, zippers, cushion fillings or foam compression, protective covers, anchoring hardware and similar accessories.

6 Limitations of Liability

6.1 Exclusion of Damages

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sabi Home shall not be liable for any incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from the use or inability to use the product, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of business, loss of data, damage to other property or inconvenience, even if Sabi Home has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages; therefore this limitation may not apply to you.

6.2 Limitation of Implied Warranties

Except for the express warranties contained in this statement and to the extent permitted by law, Sabi Home disclaims all other warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. If implied warranties cannot be disclaimed under applicable law, we limit the duration of such implied warranties to the duration of the applicable express warranty period (five years for frames, three years for cushion and cover workmanship, etc.). Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts; therefore this limitation may not apply to you.

6.3 Maximum Liability

In all cases, Sabi Home’s maximum liability will not exceed the actual amount you paid for the product that is the subject of the warranty claim.

7 Consumer Rights and Severability

Nothing in this warranty affects your statutory rights under applicable law. In the UK, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 require that goods be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. You have up to six years (five years in Scotland) to bring a claim for faulty goods. If any term of this warranty is found to be unenforceable under applicable law, that term shall be severed or modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remainder of the warranty shall continue in full force and effect.

8 Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

8.1 For UK Customers

This warranty and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes may be brought before the courts of England and Wales, and you may also have the right to refer disputes to an alternative dispute resolution scheme or the local trading standards service.

8.2 For U.S. Customers

This warranty is governed by the laws of the State in which the product was purchased, and disputes will be resolved in accordance with those state laws. You may also have specific rights under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and other federal or state consumer protection laws. This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights which vary from state to state.
